Michele Stokes is a Massage Therapist, and Movement Instructor, specializing in Pilates, Yoga, Barre and Muscle Conditioning. She received her Massage Therapy license from East West College of the Healing Arts,
and has been a Massage Therapists for over 23 years working in a number of capacities, including Wellness clinics, Spas, Chiropractic offices, Health clubs, private practice, and on-site chair massage.
She is well versed in a wide variety of Massage techniques, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Pregnancy, Trigger Point, Reflexology, Reiki, and Hot-Stone. To her, the most important aspect of therapeutic treatment is listening to and observing clients in order to anticipate individual needs and sensitivities. She also incorporates comfort, warmth, and aromatherapy into her massage treatments.
She is also an Esthetician with 10 years experience. As an Esthetician, she is most interested in healthy, natural skin and natural skin care.
Michele has taught in the academic world, focusing on massage therapy, spa treatment, fitness programming, nutrition, and the sciences, including anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology.
She became interested in massage, bodywork, and movement therapies during her studies in modern dance, ballet, and ethnic dance at the University of Oregon. She had her own non-profit dance company for over 7 years and has taught dance, movement and exercises classes, including Yoga and Pilates for the last 25 years. For well over 15 years now, she has studied a wide variety of Yoga techniques. Some of which include Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, and Therapeutic and Restorative Yoga.
To prepare her for her lifelong pursuit toward health and wellness, she has studied Yoga with some excellent teachers at some great studios including Holiday’s Health and Fitness, Yoga Bhoga, Yoga Union, Flow and Yogafit's trainings and workshops.
Michele is a Certified Stott Pilates Mat and Reformer Trainer and is also certified in Stott Pilates Barre Fundamentals. She teaches Mat Pilates often mixed with Barre and Sculpting and offers Private Sessions for clients as well. Her Pilates training has included training with Stott Pilates Group Training, IWWA, and 24 hour fitness. She was a certified member of the American Council on Exercise for 18 years, as well as holding multiple certifications with the YMCA , including Fitness Specialist, Group Exercise, and Strength and Conditioning, as well as many years of experience teaching Parkinson's Exercise Classes. She has a passion for nutrition, herbs, and food preparation, and am always hungry to continue her studies and learn new things. Her hobbies include the outdoors, hiking with my dog and reading as many books as I can manage.
