What’s all the buzz about sound healing?

More and more folks have been talking about sound healing therapy these days. The irony is that sound healing is something humans have engaged in since before recorded history. Since time immemorial, humans have used sound to show devotion, express emotion and creativity and alter their consciousness for various spiritual reasons. In 2012, bone flutes dating back 42,000 years were found in a cave in southern Germany near the Danube river corridor. You too, have likely used sound therapeutically to lift your spirit, mend a broken heart or help yourself get through a work-out, so of course it makes sense to use sound vibration intentionally to heal other things that may be concerning you...or to simply help you take a break from a stressful life in order to feel more connected to the world around you.

There are a lot of ways to use sound vibration therapeutically, chanting is one well known method in Eastern cultures. There are also sound baths that use singing bowls, gongs and other instruments to create a deeply relaxing and restorative experience.  There are also practices that use tuning forks both around and on certain points of the body to create a therapeutic response for the person being “tuned.”

At Wild Hearts Wellness, Sound Healing Practitioner and Massage Therapist, Anna Jaquith uses tuning forks in a process called Biofield Tuning to help her clients heal from unresolved emotional trauma and ancestral patterning that may be causing them to feel stuck or limited in some way. The process of Biofield Tuning has been developed and researched over the last 22 years by a woman named Eileen Day Mckusick. Based on her work, Mckusick hypothesizes that in the space surrounding the human body, now referred to as the human biofield, there is unique information pertaining to the unique life experience and well-being of each person. Kind of like reverse rings on a tree, at the edge of the biofield you might detect information about a birth trauma and as you move closer into the body you begin to detect information about more recent life experiences.

At this point, you may be thinking that this sounds like a psychic reading or something. In fact, it is not.  A Biofield Tuning Sound Practitioner can detect and this information simply by activating tuning forks of a specific frequency in the field around your body and through use of their sense of touch and hearing they may detect disturbances in the field. When a tuning fork passes over distortion in the field, it will change its tone, or there may suddenly be a felt sense of more resistance in the field. The Biofield Tuner will then be able to help shift the pattern of distortion by continuing to activate the tuning forks in the field where the distortion was created.

We are still in the process of researching, but we think that Biofield Tuning Sound Healing may work through the physics principles of resonance and entrainment. The body hears the distortion as the coherent sound from the tuning fork is activated and moved through the area of perturbation. As the body perceives the disharmony, it begins to correct the underlying cause for the disturbance.

When people receive this work, they often feel energy shifting in their body as the distortions in the field are resolved. Sometimes they do not feel responses in their body, but they may have sudden memories or emotions arise. They often report being in a timeless and relaxed state during a Biofield Tuning session. Biofield tuning is simple yet powerful work and it should be noted that it is contraindicated for women who are pregnant, for people with pacemakers or have been diagnosed with cancer or any advanced disease. It should be scheduled at a time when you can rest and relax afterward, and it is important to drink a lot of water before and after a session.

Biofield Tuning is a form of energy work and is not intended to be a substitute for medical or psychological care from a professional. It can, however, help resolve long standing issues that have been a block to one’s creative self-expression. It can correct patterns that may have been causing certain negative habitual behaviors and it can help improve self-awareness and self-esteem, making one feel more empowered to create positive change in their lives.  People often report feeling “lighter” and in a state of greater flow after receiving Biofield Tuning work. If you are interested in receiving a Biofield Tuning Sound Healing treatment you can read more and schedule with Anna Jaquith online atwww.annajaquith.com
