Qigong

Like you, I have lived many lives and held many identities. My journey has taken me through the worlds of food, education, and nature. As I have traveled my path, I have been a constant explorer of the spaces where body, heart, and mind flow into each other and meld with the natural world.

Having long benefited from movement practices that stimulate the mind and elevate the emotions, I was drawn toward qigong after more than 20 years of personal practice in belly dance and yoga. Qigong spoke to me in a way no other practice had. Its simplicity was also its complexity; thus, it was accessible yet challenging. It had no goal of performance, rather, the opposite–practitioners were guided to let go and find presence, free from the performance of roles.

As a qigong instructor, I enable my students on their journeys of self acceptance and discovery. I provide guidance on physical forms and meditative practices as well as the metaphors associated with them. My style is eclectic and not specific to a set lineage. In part, this is a result of my teachers’ eclectic practices, but it is also reflective of my belief that personal practice is best fueled by both honoring traditions and evolving beyond them. In this way, the individual becomes their own master gardener, observing the conditions and care that guide them to flourish.

I have studied with various instructors; however, Mimi Kuo-Deemer, Lee Holden, and Rose Allen have been pivotal influences. I hold a Teacher Certification from Holden Qigong. I am participating in Mimi Kuo-Deemer’s 2024 Teacher Mentorship Program and hold a Teacher Training Certificate based on her instruction of the Five Elements. Rose Allen has been a personal inspiration and mentor as I have developed my teaching practice.
